Scope Of the Position

The Controller will be responsible for directing and analyzing the financial activities for a business unit of the company. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepare reports to summarize and forecast company business unit activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Monitor and report on the cash flow performance and needs of the company by providing estimates of funds generated by earnings, working capital efficiency, and capital expenditure requirements.
• Continuous improvement of the financial processes through education of managers on financial issues impacting their forecasts, including identifying ways in which to minimize costs and maximize performance.
• Oversee preparation of budgets, financial forecasts and strategic plans.
• Actively participate in cost avoidance and cost reduction efforts for business unit, reporting monthly savings
• Analyze product cost including materials, labor and manufacturing overhead and inventory / stocking valuation levels. (Standards & variance analysis).
• Manage & execute all Manufacturing accounting processes for location and ensure month end close processes are completed timely and in adherence with generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP)
• Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs
• Ensure compliance of policies, procedures, and internal controls

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/ Finance or equivalent required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
• Strength in cost accounting, forecasting and budgeting at the plant level
• Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and work in cross-functional teams
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and accounting software
• Strong sense of judgment, decision making, and complex problem solving
• Strong communication skills, both orally and written, especially communication of financial results and information
• Strong attention to detail and high organization skills
• Strong business and financial acumen
