Apex Group Hiring for Systems Accountant Job at Brisbane Full Time

Below are the key responsibilities of this position. Although these are the specific duties outlined, there will be occasions where other duties will be required to be undertaken to assist the business in delivering services or enhancing our internal operations.

General:

• Gain an understanding of how the various systems within the Finance Department and the group work and inter-relate.
• Design and implement systems that assist with the timely and accurate preparation of financial and management accounts, statutory returns and other financial reporting for clients.
• Identify areas that would benefit from systems improvement.
• Assist in designing, building and testing systems for accounting purposes.
• Ensure efficiency and validity of financial data imported to the Finance System.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for user notes and other financial services procedures as required.
• Assist in the coordination of the year-end and interim audits, internal reviews and APRA reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall quality, efficiency, productivity, and services provided to clients.
• Provide the General Manager, Financial Services and Lead, Systems Accounting with regular reporting on work status against objectives.

System Support:

• Coordinate, prepare and deliver training and development programs for all staff with access to Finance Systems.
• Ongoing advice & direction of Financial Services team regarding financial processes and procedures.
• Provide system user support on continuous basis.

• Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or IT related discipline.
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience in systems/and or accounting roles.
• Strong knowledge of fundamental finance and accounting principles.
• Knowledge of Superannuation funds and/or other investment vehicles such as managed investment schemes, including the mechanics for earnings, fees, tax adjustments etc.
• Understanding of IT practices, systems and development methodologies.
• Results based approach, and confident in ability to build and deliver usable tools.
• Experience with Office suite automation – e.g. VBA skills, robotic automation, preferred, however a willingness to learn in this area is essential.
• Analytical mind with the ability to critically assess data and make objective judgements.
• Experienced in working with data analysis tools such as SQL, testing results and identifying causes of data integrity issues.
• Effective interpersonal skills to drive positive outcomes and build relationships with key stakeholders and communicate, influence and negotiate outcome
