Aon is looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist

Aon is currently recruiting a Senior Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team in Burlington Vermont. This team member will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of a portfolio of captive insurance company accounts, ensuring that the client, service providers and manager needs are met, working with team members to ensure the companies remain in compliance with regulatory and accounting requirements.

About the Role

As a Financial Accounting Specialist some of your key responsibilities will involve;
Overseeing the day-to-day operations of a portfolio of clients and be a contact for individuals from within various departments at the client (risk management, corporate accounting, tax, legal, etc.)
Ensuring the quality and timeliness of financial reports and regulatory filings on a consistent basis, in coordination with other Aon colleagues
Managing the creation of financial statements and regulatory filings for a portfolio of clients, including data compilation, journal entry development and input, as well as the creation of comprehensive financial statements and related supporting schedules and related regulatory reports
Directing and supporting administrative staff
Coordinating efforts with outside service providers to meet client needs (audit, investment manager, actuary, claims manager, legal, etc.)
Preparing and presenting materials during client board meetings, ensuring both optimum quality and “value add” of the information included.

About You

As an Financial Accounting Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include;
Experience in preparing financial statements with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or related experiences.
Proven ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently in order to meet deadlines and satisfy the needs of the client and service team managers
Bachelors of Accounting degree or captive experience required
CPA or equivalent or CPA candidate a plus, but not required
Organized and able to multi-task with ability to effectively re-prioritize tasks as needed and manage several projects simultaneously
Demonstrated responsiveness to internal and external clients
Effective communicator, both verbally and written
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to identify areas requiring increased productivity and improve methods and approaches with managers guidance
Aware of own strengths and weaknesses, building on the former and addressing the latter, with manager guidance
Contribute to a collaborative, innovative and forward-thinking office
