On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Fund Accountant for a (6 Month) contract based in Glasgow – hybrid set up with home working.

Purpose of the Role

The Fund Accounting Department has responsibility for a number of different functions inclusive of daily Net Asset Value (NAV) production, periodic oversight controls and production of statutory financial statements. The Department provides such functions for a range of fund types including UK Open Ended Investment Companies, a Property Authorised Investment Fund, Unit Trusts, UK administered Luxembourg SICAVs and life & pension funds.

As a Fund Accountant you will be responsible for:

To perform T&C reviews on Financial Reporting deliverables including interim and year end financial statements and any elements feeding into this process, IFRS10 reporting, actual distribution rates, closed funds balance sheets.

Operational Excellence

• To meet client KPI’s and service delivery commitments
• To review interim and year end financial statements for assigned funds
• To review other financial reporting delierables as required including actual distribution rates, IFRS10 reporting and closed balance sheets
• Timely completion of internal team management information
• To support the update and maintenance of financial reporting templates
• Ensuring client, internal and regulatory change is implemented with no detrimental impact to client service delivery

Client Focus

• Working closely with Fund Accounting and Middle Office teams in ensuring integrity of fund data and managing responses to Clients, Auditors, Trustees, Custodians and other departments within the company Securities Services for those funds assigned responsibility for.

Risk and Control

• Assess team processes to improve efficiency, control and to reduce risk
• Support both Manager and Assistant Manager in ensuring all significant activities are documented within procedures, kept up-to-date and recorded on the procedure database
• Support both Manager and Assistant Manager in ensuring all checklists utilised in review and sign off clearly document controls and are kept up-to-date
• Support training and development of team members
• Timely escalation of any issues to Assistant Manager
• Corrective and preventative action if deadlines / quality standards are at risk
• Maintaining training and continuing competency (T&C)

• Internal service providers within AFS Operations
• Operational Control
• IT & Change
• Internal clients (Luxembourg, Fund Accounting leadership team and UK Exec management team)
• Support functions (HR, Finance, Compliance, Legal)

Key external key stakeholders:

• Fund Clients & Oversight teams
• Fund Auditors
• Fund Trustee
• Fund Custodian
• Financial Reporting Typesetters

What we require from the candidate:

• Fund accounting experience, ideally in IB but any FS or Corporate environment
• Reviewing, reporting, reconciliations background
• Experience working in the Financial Services Sector
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Solid numerical and analytical skills
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles and regulations pertaining to CISs
• Time management and planning skills
• Being responsible, reliable and accountable
• STRONG EXCEL SKILLS is a must!
