Fleet Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fleet Mechanic provides preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles as assigned by Fleet Manager.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform front line mechanic inspections, preventive maintenance and electrical repairs on both diesel and gasoline vehicles per AMR Fleet Policy and Procedures
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns in the field when requested
• Assist other mechanics as needed
• Operate Company vehicles in accordance with Company policy and safe driving practices
• Complete all required vehicle repair and maintenance paperwork and documentation neatly, correctly, and in a timely manner using AMR repair work orders and AMR Fleet Maintenance Software (RTA)
• Attend all mandatory Fleet training and meetings
• Foster a culture of employee appreciation and accountability at an organizational level
• Support and contribute to AMR’s commitment to equity and inclusion

• Repair and maintain vehicles correctly, and in a quality and timely manner
• Respond professionally to changing fleet and operations departmental priorities
• Respond promptly to road calls, accurately diagnose, and perform quality repairs
• Maintain a safe and clean work area
• Thoroughly, promptly, neatly, and accurately document vehicle repairs and maintenance including a complete accounting of all labor hours, parts, and materials used
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a respectful working relationship with all fleet and operations personnel; display professional conduct with outside suppliers and contacts
• Take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices
• Adhere to Company and OSHA safety guidelines
• Identify and existing and potential safety concerns to Fleet Supervision
• Adhere to AMR Fleet Policy and Procedures
• Perform all other duties as assigned by Lead Mechanic, Shop Foreman, and Area Fleet Manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education
• Must have four years of verifiable experience as a Class C – Associate Mechanic, and automotive knowledge and skills necessary to perform maintenance and repairs on Company vehicles
• Must have two ASE Certifications in automotive or truck series: brakes, steering/suspension
• Must have a current and valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license
• Must have a full set of personal tools needed to complete basic automotive repairs
• Must be able to use:
• Telecommunication equipment and computers
• Personal hand tools
• Vehicle shop equipment
• Vehicle hoist/floor jacks
• Diagnostic scan tools
• Brake lathe
• Tire balancer and mounting machine
• A/C recovery/recycle machine
• Pneumatic air tools and miscellaneous hand tools
