THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Graduate Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team on a permanent basis. The role will be based in our head office at Tomago 2322 and will be responsible for assisting to ensure the information and reporting systems are in place and operating to produce uniform, timely, accurate financial data.

You will assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to protect the business asset base.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a motivated team player, you will be required to maintain a vibrant, proactive approach in your daily tasks which will include:

• Enter data into required finance reports and work papers including;
• Weekly bank reconciliation review
• Fixed Asset Register maintenance
• Monthly subsidiary reconciliations
• Balance sheet reconciliations for all asset and liability accounts
• Monthly management accounts
• Workers compensation and payroll tax
• Identify and investigate accounting/processing irregularities in the general ledger
• Enter data in monthly financial summaries
• Ensure sufficient work papers are completed and filed accordingly
• Prepare an appropriate month-end file containing all supporting documentation
• Prepare statutory reporting reconciliations for review including BAS & IAS
• Review weekly and monthly payroll for relevant entities for final signing by Finance Manager/Accountant
• Prepare year-end work paper / reconciliation files in accordance with checklist and requirements from finance accounting team
• Assist in preparation of annual operating budgets

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Your willingness to be successful in a fast-paced environment will be complemented by your experience in any of the following:

• Degree qualified in Accounting or Commerce
• Desire to work towards CPA (desirable)
• Competent in the Microsoft Office applications
• High level of integrity
• Understands general accounting principles and methodologies
• Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
• Cost accounting experience gained from working within a manufacturing environment
• Attention to detail
• Well-developed time management skills
