AMOG Consulting Hiring for Software Engineer (Melbourne) Job at Australia Full Time

AMOG is looking for a full time software engineer in their early- to mid-career with experience in data analysis programming and/or developing web applications, wihy a tertiary qualification in Engineering, IT or Computer Science.

The successful applicant will become an integral part of AMOG’s Smart Sensors team, assisting with development, cloud-deployment and scaling of applications in the industrial internet of things (IIoT) across a number of industries such as marine, mining, transport and Defence.

The successful applicant will undertake software engineering and junior project management activities for IIoT applications; for example, asset integrity and vibration monitoring software. These include:

• Undertaking design, development, and deployment of engineering software (both cloud-based and on-premises).

• Using computer-based tools and techniques to undertake data analysis and modelling of engineering problems in a broad range of fields and applications.

• Problem solving, troubleshooting and improving upon existing code bases.

• Participating in the execution of Research & Development activities.

• Assisting with project management, including project costing, scheduling and tracking.

• Assisting senior engineers in liaising with clients to gather requirements and facilitate integration and deployment of software.

• Actively participating in and improving the AMOG software quality management system.

This position will suit someone with knowledge/experience in IoT applications, with a preference for applicants who have a broader set of skills and a keen willingness to learn new ones.

We are looking for someone with technical skills and experience in at least two of the following:

• Data analysis / data science (e.g. Python, Matlab, R)

• Backend frameworks (e.g. APIs)

• Database management (e.g. SQL flavours)

• Continuous integration and development (CI/CD) pipeline management

• Cloud technologies (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS)

The following skills and experience will also be viewed favourably:

• Web development fundamentals (CSS, HTML, JavaScript)

• JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue)

• Mobile development experience (any platform)

• Machine learning

• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle

• Working experience with Linux OS

• Microcontroller firmware (C)

• Experience in the resources and heavy industries and/or consulting
