This position sits in the EMEA Compensation & Benefits team and will have accountability for designing and leading the compensation and benefits agendas for a portfolio of markets, as well playing a key role in the wider Colleague Total Reward and Wellbeing function. Reporting to the Director, Compensation & Benefits EMEA, the team works in an increasingly flexible and agile way, ensuring we are able to deliver impact at both scale and speed, and provide opportunities to lead not just across the region but also as part of the International Business and global centres of excellence.

Key responsibilities will include:
Acting as strategic partner to country HR teams, global HRBPs, and market Country Executive Teams across the full landscape of compensation and benefits topics
Leading core compensation activities including market benchmarking, management of pay ranges, cyclical compliance requirements e.g. Gender Pay Gap reporting
Ownership of all benefit programs incorporating design, vendor management and ongoing assessment of efficacy and impact
Providing in-country support to the employee relations teams on any compensation or benefit related local consultations, including Works Councils
Ensuring local programmes are compliant with local regulations and meet internal American Express standards
Providing in-country support to global compensation processes including the annual compensation review and bonus cycles
Oversight of the Wellbeing programmes in market, and collaborative partnership with the Health and Wellbeing teams to land Healthy Living and Healthy Minds agendas as an integrated and holistic part of the Colleague Total Reward and Wellbeing proposition
Participating in and/or leading compensation and benefits projects across the International or globally
Delivering expertise and data-led analyses as part of targeted colleague insights activities
Partnering with Talent Acquisition to ensure the Amex proposition is positioned effectively as part of a seamless hiring experience

To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following skills, experiences, and attributes:
Experience of managing compensation, compliance, and regulation, particularly in the UK and Belgium would be advantageous (including tax structures and labour laws)
Understanding of benchmarking methodologies and trends within employee compensation and benefits
A seasoned project manager who is able to move between high level design and strategic oversight to direct management of detail and technical requirements
Strong creative skills and a proven track record of delivering innovation
Intellectual curiosity and an analytical mindset to approach challenges and questions with data-led rigour
Top-notch consulting skills/stakeholder management and experience to deliver robust advice across both HR and the business
Must be a powerful influencer, able to craft narratives and build business cases to support the compensation and benefits strategy, facing off against senior leaders where needed
Demonstrate tenacity and resilience to deliver the agenda in a world of competing priorities and ambiguity
Must be able to adeptly navigate a complex global matrix, and build a strong cross-function network through which to deliver effectively
Demonstrable experience of managing an ecosystem of external parties (vendors; consulting relationships etc.) and holding these partners to account
Ability to switch modes seamlessly between working autonomously, as a single point of accountability, and as an integral part of a number of different teams, each of which requiring you to play a different role
Must have the self-drive and stamina to execute a long-term agenda
English fluency is a must, but additional European languages could be useful
