TITLE: Simulated Mission Operator (SMO)

S TO: Site Lead

WORK EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of MQ-9 aircrew training device (ATD) experience. Two (2) years of experience executing military flight simulator training. Two (2) years of close air support (CAS) operational experience as a qualified aircrew member, intel support, or Joint Tactical Air Controllers (JTAC).

Desired Qualifications: Candidates who have prior experience on the Remote Piloted Aircraft Training Support (RPATS) program at Holloman AFB, NM arepreferred. Experience with MQ-9 Tactical Situational Awareness Tool (TACSIT), and multi-user Internet Relay Chat (mIRC). Previously qualified as MQ-9 mission intelligence coordinator, pilot, sensor operator or air battle manager.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: High School diploma or GED.

REQUIREMENTS: US Citizen and current/active Secret Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to maneuver in and around the job site. Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, crouch and stoop when working. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Responds to visual and oral cues. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must be able to handle more than one function at a time accurately. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and must meet company fit for duty requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Summary: Provide real time training event mission support for ATD events, MQ-9 flightline events, and/or desktop trainer (DTT) events. Support includes emergency procedure evaluations (EPE), launch, and recovery (LR), continuation training (CT), MQ-9 Formal Training Unit (FTU) syllabus missions, student practice missions, debriefs, and distinguished visitor (DV) and/or guest demonstrations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Enforces safety standards. Implements and oversees the safety program at the site that provides a zero accident and injury work environment with no lost time incidents.
• Must to the squadron’s DTT within 20 minutes of the request.
• Support for squadron DTTs does not count towards daily events.
• Maintain an immediate presence during the conduct of scheduled mission events in order to provide real-time tactical adjustments as directed by the instructor or CT crew in accordance with the Syllabus Event Allotment List (SEAL).
• Must arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the event and is responsible for loading the appropriately scheduled missions ahead of the arrival of the instructor and student crew scheduled for the simulator.
• Qualified to diagnose maintenance or scenario issues.
• Provide troubleshooting assistance for maintenance or programming issues that may occur. Coordinates with the Simulator Duty Director to resolve malfunctions.
• Ensures that maintenance or system malfunctions are captured and written on the debrief form after each ADT mission.
• Available 15 minutes prior to the scheduled flight start time of the event and is responsible for coordinating with the MQ-9 instructor.
• Responsible to create a realistic approximation of real-world combat operations by simulating the functions of other entities via Intercom or mIRC software.
• Trained to operate DTT events. DTT events are comprised of up to ten (10) small student ATDs and up to two (2) instructor ATDs in a single room designed to run concurrently.
• Ensures the proper scenario is loaded into each DTT at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the event.
• Must be able to multi-task and coordinate with multiple units on a daily basis.
• Enforces company policies, plans, procedures, and work instructions and recommends improvements.
• Coordinates with the Site Lead and implements individual employee career development, initial qualification, and on-the-job training plans.
• Informs personnel of changes/updates to policies, procedures, and other significant information.
• Ensures contract deliverables are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
• Promotes continuous improvement and the company Quality Management System (QMS).
• Promotes T.O. compliance to ensure simulator and equipment maintenance documentation is complete and accurate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
