Job Description

The Dispatch Customer Service Manager will lead a team of dispatch professionals in the execution of daily customer service requirements and contract fulfilment. The manager will ensure the dispatch team operates at its highest standard, focusing on daily efficiency, customer service both internal and external, and contract execution

Responsibilities

• Oversee all dispatch operations throughout Ontario for AIM trucking. This includes successfully dispatching both AIM internal trucks and external brokers
• Managing a group of dispatchers to ensure timely service is provided to all AIMs transportation customers (internal and external)
• Review daily dispatch results and utilize KPIs to determine opportunities to improve dispatch production
• Review daily service results and utilize KPIs to determine ways to improve customer service for AIM customers
• Work with director of transportation to ensure enough trucks and drivers are being hired and in the appropriate location that ensures optimization across the province
• Manage an extensive list of purchase and sales contracts and make sure they are all executed within the contractual commitment
• Have all external brokers follow AIM policies by providing physical (photo, etc.) evidence that all loads have been completed. Ensure all proof of delivery/pickup documentation is uploaded into AIMs scrap management systems
• Identify new and innovative ways to ensure that customer service requirements are being met, including improving visibility on customer service results
• Work with IT and colleagues within Transportation to identify, create, implement, and execute new technology strategies and procedures

• Ensure that dispatch teams communicate timely and effectively with buyers, suppliers, and customers, to arrange the transportation of raw material.
• Ensure that all independent truck owners follow the established company guidelines and that all hauling agreements, lease agreements, and insurance documentation is kept organized and updated.
• Work with sales team and members of transportation to identify areas that customers could adjust to reduce the drivers time on site for both suppliers and mills
• Complete root cause analysis on all functions of dispatch to identify and implement corrective action plans
• Hold yourself and team accountable to following processes and procedures to complete specific dispatch work activities
• Mentor direct reports and develop succession plans for each. Provide regular feedback to direct reports and work towards improving the efficiencies of each person.

Qualifications

• University graduate with a focus in Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• 5 to 10 years experience in Transportation or Logistics management positions.
• Experience with Transportation regulations and safety requirements.
• Transportation permits and weight regulations across Ontario, Quebec, and the United States
• Experience with managing several direct reports and administrators.
• Understanding order and contract fulfilment and how to execute fulfilments at an Industrial level
• Knowledge of truck equipment and when to use specific types of trailers and trucks to complete scrap and construction pickups/deliveries
