The accounting manager/controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Management;

• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
• Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
• Interpret the company’s financial results to management and recommend improvement activities.
• Develop financial and tax strategies
• Develop performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction
• Manage daily Cash-flow

Transactions;

• Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
• Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
• Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly
• Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
• Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
• Maintain the chart of accounts
• Coordinates and track all company imports
• Manage and record related Company Records
• Maintains banking relationships
• Ensures the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

Reporting;

• Issue timely and complete financial statements
• Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
• Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
• Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Compliance;

• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
• Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Risk Management;

• Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
• Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
• Construct and monitor reliable control systems
• Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
• Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
• Report risk issues to the owner

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent business experience;
• 6+ years’ of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation;
• CPA or CMA desirable;
• High level of accuracy
• Excellent mathematical background;
• Detailed oriented and very organized;
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently;
• Problem solving and analytical talent;
• Bilingual, English and Spanish;
• Excellent oral/written communication in both languages, particularly in regards to presenting analyses results;
• Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through directing others;
• Proficient in MS Office software, SAGE (100 advanced ERP) software, and outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets.
