Resident Engineer – Work Away – Beautiful Location

We are looking for a Senior Roads and Drainage Resident Civil Engineer to design our residential and commercial schemes in a stunning location!

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Feasibilities

Work closely with our in-house architectural and commercial teams and our external transport consultant to identify the constraints and optimum solution in relation to:

Access and internal road layout.

Drainage.

Services.

Cut and fill.

Site Investigations

Liaise closely with our in-house structural engineering and construction teams when organising/undertaking:

Soakaway tests to BRE Digest 365 to establish filtration rates

Establishing testing regimes/requirements for road construction

Road Design

Liaise with the Department of Infrastructure’s Highway’s Division, our Transport Consultant and our in-house design team in relation to:

The preparation of a comprehensive design package in compliance with statutory requirements. Road Design to include both horizontal & vertical design, junction design, all road features, road gully design, road markings, signage and pavement design, etc..

Organising stage 1 to stage 4 road safety audits (RSA’s) and responding to the issues raised therein.

The preparation of Section 4 Road Adoption Agreements.

The preparation of Section 109A Agreements relating to works in an existing highway.

The final adoption of the roads when complete.

Flood Risk

Liaise with the Risk Management Team and our external Flood Risk Consultants in relation to:

The appointment of drainage consultants to undertake more complex flood risk assessments (FRA’s).

The preparation of non-complex FRA’s  

The design of flood risk mitigation features.

Drainage Design

Liaise with the Utilities Drainage Division, our in-house design team, pump manufacturers, treatment plant manufacturers, etc. in relation to:

The preparation of a drainage design package in compliance with sewerage division.

The preparation of Section 8 Drainage Adoption Agreement.

The preparation of SUDS design features (where appropriate).

The design of foul water pumping stations or temporary treatment plants (where appropriate).

The final adoption of the drainage installation when complete.

Environment

Liaise with the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture’s (DEFA) Environmental Protection Unit in relation to:

The submission applications for licences to discharge into watercourses or the sea.

The submission applications for permission to undertake works in watercourses.

Utilities

Liaise with Utilities, Gas & Telecom Divisions in relation to the preparation of service layouts and quotations for:

Water, electric, gas and telecom.

Prepare duct crossing layouts (and integrated service layouts where necessary).

General

Attend design meetings and site meetings as needs be.

Undertake site visits as needs be to ensure the works are being undertaken in accordance with the construction drawings and to resolve any issues.

Comply with CDM requirements

About You

• You will have a BSc or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• Membership of the Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE) would be advantageous.
• Have a minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in the design of roads and drainage layouts for housing developments.
• Be proficient in the use of Micro drainage (Windes), PDS and AutoCAD.
• Competence in the use of civil engineering software such as Site 3D or Civil 3D would be advantageous.

This role is to work away from home, in a beautiful location. It is a permanent role, however, and as such relevant candidates must be prepared to relocate according to the job need.

Full relocation package will be provided, as well as:
