Job summary
At Amazon, Security is job zero. Our team is responsible for inventing new security services that enable and automate security solutions at a massive scale. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to help innovate and build new services from the ground up that will make security and innovation simultaneous for product teams. You will have the opportunity to define, design, build, and operate new services from end to end in collaboration with industry leading security experts. You will work in an agile team to translate business requirements from senior leadership into tools and services that will influence how product teams securely deliver the world’s largest cloud platform. We are looking for a SDE who is excited about engineering services and systems at scale. You’ll be designing for the cloud on the cloud. In this role you will be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of highly scalable distributed systems that provide availability, scalability and latency guarantees. In addition you will be expected raise the standards of the organization by mentoring junior engineers, interviewing and up-levelling the coding standards. This is a highly visible program where you will have the opportunity to have a huge impact.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, build and test Software Solutions for the Security suite of products. Provide software development expertise in support of Security.
• Directly represent the team to business leader and technical staff at all levels of the company.
• Demonstrate “exceptional” judgment, integrity, business acumen, and communication skills.
• Prepare and present detailed, written technical information for internal and external audiences.

• Masters degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience collecting requirements and describing software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
• Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team.
• Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
