• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

The Prime Video Encoding team’s mission is to deliver the best possible audio/video experience to our customers. We build services and workflows that analyze, encode, package and encrypt content into the full range of formats required for playback across thousands of device types in over 200 territories worldwide. Our architecture operates at exabyte-scale, engineered for reliability, scalability, and performance.

We are looking for a strong Software Development Engineer (SDE) to help build the next generation of our Video Encoding Orchestration Platform.

This platform will play a key role in interfacing with our catalog to ingest content delivered from studios and drive the encoding and packaging of the bits that are delivered to customers worldwide. As an SDE, you will get to work on a lot of established as well as green field AWS technologies and design large scale backend systems from scratch. You will also be exposed to industry leading encoding technologies such as 4K/HDR/Atmos and gain a deep understanding of Prime Video’s content encoding workflows.

• Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
• Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
• Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
• Experience and Knowledge of media container and codec formats, streaming protocols, encoding tools, is a plus. Should be willing to dive into and learn new technologies.
