Job summary
The Amazon Quantum Ledger Database (QLDB) is a next generation purpose-built database which is re-imagining how developers use databases. We keep an immutable and cryptographically verifiable ledger of every transaction performed on the database. It is a revolutionary, highly-scalable and available OLTP database. Join us during this formative period of the product and help us define the future of QLDB as well as the database industry itself.
This role is with the Developer Experience team, which is central to our strategy for driving adoption of QLDB. We want QLDB to be a joy to use and to have developers fall in love with its simplicity, ease of use, and raw power.
Currently this teams owns the AWS QLDB Console, where we are writing an online query IDE in Typescript and React. We also own all the drivers to interacting with QLDB in Java, Node, Python, Go, .NET, and Rust and we need to support many more languages. Next we own the tools for interacting with the database as well as a native desktop IDE application. The overwhelming majority of this code is open sourced on Github.
Finally, we also own the Continuous Data Protection aspect of QLDB where we are working to continuously safely take backups of QLDB instances.
So, if you like dabbling in a plethora of languages, if you love the nuance once language offers over another, or if you like writing open source code (and being paid for it!), or if you want to write high-performance systems to transfer and store petabytes of data, or if you want to write the best-in-class IDE for interacting with modern databases, this is the team for you!
We are an empathic team where we value, respect, and encourage work/life harmony. We’re agile with a small ‘a’. We’re interested in ensuring our developers get what they want out of their career at Amazon, building the skills that matter to you, while building industry-disrupting technology.
