Our AWS RDS team is expanding their software presence here in Sydney, Australia. The AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) is one of the fastest-growing AWS businesses, providing super-simple provisioning and management for databases in the cloud. RDS provides customers with databases that have multiple-nines of durability and availability. Achieving this level of reliability require control and monitoring systems that automatically detect and handle failures within seconds, and data replication options that accommodate global distribution and disaster recovery objectives. The challenge is further heightened by needing to handle huge numbers of databases and a wide variety of customer workloads. • Work with the team to help solve business problems.
• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team deliverables.
• Write high quality distributed system software.
• Work on issues directly affecting customers and make permanent fixes in the service.

About the team

We’re a team within the Relational Database Service, one of the fastest growing businesses within AWS. Our mission is to ensure that customers have a secure, durable and performant place to run their SQL Server databases in the cloud. To do that, we build and use tools to test and certify new instance types and make new engine versions available for customers, all while closely monitoring the customer experience to find new ways to expand the service and continue to delight and innovate on behalf of our customers.

• You have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science
• You are experienced with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle or another major SQL database
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• You have done previous technical internship(s)
• You are familiar with Cloud Computing and the AWS Cloud product suite
