Amana Academy Charter School is anticipating teacher and paraprofessional openings for the 2022-23 school year. Amana Academy is a thriving Expeditionary Learning School with 2 campuses in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
Going into our 13th year, Amana Academy’s Alpharetta Campus serves a diverse group of 700+ students in grades K-8. Our new Atlanta West Campus will serve grades KG-3.

General Responsibilities
K-3 Teachers (Alpharetta Campus & Atlanta West Campus): Amana’s lower elementary program fosters students’ curiosity for learning by providing authentic, integrated contexts for active learning through fieldwork with community partners, civic leaders, industry and business figures, and environmental scientists. Teachers value multiple approaches to the learning process and create hands-on and cooperative learning experiences. Social-emotional learning, creativity and critical thinking, service learning and curriculum that emphasizes science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is at the core of the lower elementary program. Teachers in grades K-3 loop with their students to foster community and relationships that allow for a nurturing learning environment. The ideal teacher for this position is passionate about working with gifted elementary school students, committed to innovative pedagogy, and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning. The candidate must have experience developing project-based curriculum with a team and with or without textbooks; have a command of concept-based mathematics instruction; and have the ability to develop students in areas of social-emotional learning. Amana delivers gifted instruction through a collaborative approach.
Grade 4 /Grade 5 Teachers (Alpharetta Campus): Amana’s upper elementary program emphasizes a gender-based approach to learning within a semi-departmentalized structure. Learning is active and authentic through fieldwork with civic leaders, industry figures, engineers, and environmental scientists. Personal and social responsibility, creativity and critical thinking, service learning and a curriculum that emphasizes science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is at the core of the upper elementary program. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of the content areas to be taught (ELA/Reading and Social Sciences for Humanities and Science and Math for STEM positions), have interest and experience in interdisciplinary approaches, and demonstrate flexibility and experience with a variety of levels of instruction, especially with gifted children. Our faculty models a spirit of deep inquiry and inspires students to be active learners through authentic, project-based learning with real-world applications and authentic audiences. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the developmental needs of upper elementary students, be passionate about working with gifted children, and have experience in and enthusiasm for building integrated, interdisciplinary programs of study.
General Responsibilities for K-5 Teachers:
Middle School Grades 6-8 Teachers (Alpharetta Campus): Amana’s Middle School students engage in learning that fosters deep inquiry and 21st Century skills with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Learning is active and authentic through fieldwork with civic leaders, industry figures, and environmental scientists to examine agriculture, architecture, city infrastructure, design, environmental policy, law, and planning. Social justice and service learning are embedded within the curriculum allowing students to become problem-solvers in real world contexts. The ideal candidate will have taught at the middle school or high school level and have expert knowledge of his or her academic discipline, as well as experience in and passion for building integrated, interdisciplinary programs of study.
