The Opportunity

Altus Group now has an opportunity for a Junior Finance Assistant to join our busy Finance team based in Manchester. This is an entry level position and would suit a college leaver, or similar, looking for a first step into a career in finance. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and entering accounts payable invoices and employee expenses, as well as the processing of payments.

This position is a hybrid-working role, you will predominantly work from home after your initial training period. However, occasional attendance will be required in our Manchester office so it is required that you are based within a daily commutable distance to the office.

Role Responsibilities:

Processing

• Processing and entering invoices and classifying and matching invoices and cheque requests
• Daily monitoring of accounts payable inbox and ensure all invoices processed in timely manner
• Preparing and processing employee expenses through Concur, ensuring reimbursement is timely and accurate, and matching back up records once expenses are paid

Payment

• Preparing and processing weekly cheque runs, including the processing of wires and EFTs
• Checking all invoices for proper documentation and making agreement prior to payment

Reconciliation

• Reconciling vendor statements to payment records and working with vendors and other parties to ensure that discrepancies are being corrected

Filing

• Ensuring files and documentation comply with policy of the company and accepted practices on accounting

Other

• Providing assistance by acting as a back-up for other Finance Assistants during the month end close to ensure that deadlines are met
• Working on ad hoc projects to help streamline and improve processes

Experience & Skills required

• A-Level/ BTEC/ College Diploma or equivalent in Accounting/ Finance/ Business Administration or similar would be preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Can problem solve and multi-task efficiently;
• MS Office skills including Excel skills;
