Altair EDEM is the market leader in the Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulation software and services for the design and optimization of equipment that handles and processes bulk materials in the equipment manufacturing, energy, process and mining industries. For over a decade, Altair EDEM (formerly DEM Solutions) has been developing and supplying world-leading DEM simulation technology and know-how to customers around the world who handle and process bulk materials ranging from coal, ores and soil to pellets, tablets powders and fibres. First released in 2006, EDEMTM software is powered by the Company’s state-of-the-art DEM simulation technology running under both CPU and GPU platforms.

What You Will Do

We are looking for enthusiastic applicants interested in applying their skills as part of a team developing new products and engineering solutions for use by industry-leading companies and institutes worldwide. Utilising cutting-edge high-performance computing technologies such as parallel computing, advanced physics engines, GPU acceleration and visualisation you will be working on the next generation of EDEM simulation technology. Working in small project teams, you will be involved in the project development iteration and delivery of various software components associated with the product. The role involves working closely with the business development and R&D teams to ensure delivery of robust and functionally correct software to project deadlines.

What You Will Need

We are looking for someone –

• With a ‘good’ knowledge / understanding of the C++ language – C++17.
• With experience of working with Python.
• Who can investigate bug reports, implement and test bug fixes and re-release the updated software for formal testing.
• Who can collaborate with peers and stakeholders in the full development lifecycle.
• Who will participate with peers with the goal of continuous process improvement.
• Who is able to work independently with minimal supervision in a methodical and structured manner.
• Stay current with the latest software releases and work with the software team to help guide future product development
• Work across various teams to develop new ideas to solve complex business problems
• Desirable
  • Exposure to CAE, CAD, FEA or CFD tools
  • Knowledge of DEM (Discrete Element Method) simulation.
  • Exposure to physics engines.
  • Knowledge of CUDA development
  • Parallel computing development frameworks – OpenMP
