SEMCO Energy – Manager of Supply Chain
The Manager of Supply Chain-Utilities is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, planning and management of the daily operations of the Supply Chain Management for SEMCO Energy Gas Company supporting Field Operations, Customer Experience, Operations Services, Materials Management and Supplier Diversity as part of the Supply Chain-Utilities Leadership Team.
The best candidate for this role will drive operational excellence, transformation, and business growth for SEMCO Energy and Supply Chain Utilities. The successful candidate will have ongoing interactions with the company’s leadership and subject matter experts across the organization and will apply strong leadership, communication, change management, project management, stakeholder management, and risk management skills to enhance efficiencies and standardization and the value Supply Chain brings to the organization.
This key position will be responsible for metrics within their area of responsibility and will be a key contributor to SEMCO Energy and Supply Chain-Utilities overall departmental goals. Ultimately, the Sr. Director is expected to establish themselves as a strong leader and trusted business advisor to the SEMCO Energy Utility Operations stakeholders to better position SEMCO Energy and Supply Chain-Utilities reach its value drivers.
This role is based in Port Huron, Michigan, and s to the Sr Director/Director of Supply Chain-Utilities. 20% travel may be required.

You Will

• Responsible for contracting, purchasing and negotiating of materials, equipment, supplies and services from vendors at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need in the areas of Field Operations, Customer Experience, Field Services and Material Management and Supplier Diversity management and achieve cost reduction (Sourcing savings).
• Responsible to coordinate with Supply Chain-Utilities and SEMCO Leaders and Stakeholders to oversee Service Providers performance in the areas of Materials Management (SOWs, SLAs, performance, etc.) and accountable to improve customer service levels (Fill Rate), working capital (Inventory Turns), and inventory optimization.
• Responsible to comply with Supplier Diversity Program’s requirements (internal/external) and promoting the interests of the company within the vendor community, including minority and protected-class businesses.
• Responsible to coordinate, support, create, implement, and maintain Supply Chain Strategy and Initiatives and Alignment for the Supply Chain-Utilities and SEMCO Energy.
• Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance in of the Supply Chain Category Plans and Demand Planning in collaboration with Supply-Chain Utilities and SEMCO Energy including but not limited to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Supplier Relationship Managements (SRMs) for the assigned areas.
• Responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and directing the Supply Chain-SEMCO Utilities spend and achieve annual value drivers and supplier diversity commitments.
• Responsible for the preparation and administration of the Supply Chain-SEMCO Utilities annual budget for the assigned areas, ensuring necessary documentation and s and responsible for compliance aspects.
• Provide counsel and guidance to the SEMCO Energy Leaders by collaborating with Supply Chain-Utilities Leadership and Team to provide a full range of business strategy, programs, products and services, and operations issue resolutions.
• Collaborates with other Managers, Sr Managers, Directors, Sr. Directors and Vice President in the Supply Chain department to create, maintain and roll out and achieve departmental strategies and value drivers.
• Responsible to have knowledge and subject matter expertise related to market drivers, supplier base, emerging technologies, and regulatory factors.
• Work collaboratively with the SEMCO business unit and all entities to ensure the Company’s value drivers are addressed and “voice of customer” is included.
• Leads, coaches, mentors and directs the work of SEMCO Supply Chain team members to plan and accomplish goals; and provide customer service. Technical and commercial support to SEMCO Leaders and stakeholders.
• Responsible to recruit, maintain, develop, and manage a team of professionals to achieve Supply Chain-Utilities and SEMCO departmental commitments.

You Have

• Bachelor’s Degree Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, or related fields required. Master’s degree or MBA degrees considered an asset. preferred
• 7+ Years of expertise in Supply Chain required
• 2+ years of supervisory experience required
• Supply Chain or Project Management related certifications (e.g., CPSM, Six Sigma, PMP) are considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Supply Chain Management best practices and procedures to procure the best product or service at the overall best value based on internal customer requirements.
• Demonstrated strategic, project management, process improvement, innovation, stakeholder management and team building skills.
• Strong knowledge of contractual structure and risk mitigation principles.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities, provide status updates, and articulate next steps.
• Solid analytical skills with hands on experience to analyze and produce accurate conclusions to support decisions based on key data.
• Demonstrable history of meeting or exceeding targets for value drivers.
• Strong presentation skills for various levels in the organization.
• Proven experience in collaboration and team building skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a team environment, securing buy-in and agreement through collaborative efforts.
