This is Fixed Term, 12 Months contract job opportunity with potential transition into Perm to build a career as Accountant based at our West Melbourne office.

Purpose of the role:
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Accountant to join our Accounting Team within our Shared Services Finance function. The accountant role is to assist the Financial Controller and the Project Manager to ensure focus on the achievement of the financial goals of the project. This includes (but not limited to) project budget planning, monthly reporting while adhering to Alstom accounting guidelines.

The role is expected to be able to independently perform contractual reporting to customer (V/Line) and to ensure all stakeholders’ queries are addressed in timely manner. This role fulfils the succession planning requirement for VLM finance team. This role also offers Onsite/Offsite work flexibility, depends upon work need.

Key responsibilities:

• Experience in Financial Statement reconciliations (P&L and Balance Sheet);

• Experience in the creation of financial statements and reports, month-end, year-end close process;

• Proficient in the use of computer equipment and associated software (SAP and Maximo required)

• Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles;

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders;

• Ensure correct and accurate accounting treatment of all expenditures and documents including capital items.;

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge:
Education:

• BBus/BCom in Accounting or Finance;

• CA/CPA qualified or studying towards.

• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Access.

• Great team player.

• Individual contributor.
