Library Assistant needed for Crestine and Lake Arrowhead, CA.
Hours- 38 Hours in total for a 2 week schedule – Part-time
Must be available to work weekends, Must have a flexible schedule, must be able to pass a background & drug screening.
Customer Service, Receptionist, Administrative background is preferred.

Week 1 – Saturday & Sunday -Off /Monday-4:15-8:15pm/ Tuesday-OFF/Wed-4:15pm-8:15pm/ Thursday 11am-4pm/ Friday-2:15pm-6:15pm
Week 2- Saturday-8:45am-5:15/Sunday- Off /Monday-4:15pm-8:15pm /Tuesday-Off/ Wed-10-2pm/ Thurs-3:15pm /Friday -Off

Detailed Job Description-Definition-

Distinguishing Characteristics
Positions are characterized by responsibility for implementing programs in the areas of youth, adult, literacy, volunteer, and/or technology; providing reference and circulation services, performing backroom operations, and shelving books. Positions typically report to a Librarian I or Librarian II.

1. Orient library customers on services, policies, and procedures of the library system; explain the use of library computers and other technology related items.

2. Assist library customers in the use of the library collection and services by providing reference service using standard electronic and print sources; providing circulation services by checking in/out materials, handling money, and accessing account information.
3. Assist library customers throughout the library by answering their questions effectively and resolving customer concerns. Remain knowledgeable about library programs and activities and successfully promote information regarding programs and technology to the public.
4. Shelve library materials, organize collections of books, process new and donated materials, and evaluate donated materials.
5. Create library book displays, work on promotional programs, use various craft supplies to decorate for library events, and contribute to the successful implementation of special programs or events.
6. Conducts programs on a weekly basis in the areas of youth, adult, literacy, volunteer, and/or technology. May work as the designated person for this service/program in a small to medium branch or may work in support to a team of staff. May provide community outreach such as conducting class visits in support of the assigned program responsibility.
7. Assist with various backroom duties including daily or monthly money reports, activity reports, supply ordering, volunteer hour reports, processing daily shipments, retrieving items on the daily holds list, following up with library customers problem items, retrieving library materials, and maintaining an organized and clean staff work area and public area.
8. May assign work to other Library Assistants, part time staff, and/or volunteers. May train and oversee the work of staff. May be in charge of a branch library during the absence of the librarian.
9. Provide vacation and temporary relief as required at branches throughout the County Library System.
