Founded in 1977, the Alliance to Save Energy is a nonprofit coalition of energy leaders advocating for enhanced energy productivity to achieve economic growth, a cleaner environment, and greater energy equity, reliability, and affordability. Our K-12 energy education programs work with students across the country, empowering them through STEM learning to lead change in their schools, homes, and communities.
Position Description
The Alliance to Save Energy seeks a full-time, remote Project Leader to implement the EmPowered Schools Program. EmPowered Schools is a nationally recognized, comprehensive energy education program for K-12 schools. The program utilizes a curriculum correlated to state and national learning standards, to:
· Teach energy topics (climate science, energy efficiency, environmental justice, renewable energy, and green careers)
· Enhance project-based, real-world learning, using schools as living laboratories
· Engage students as advocates for energy efficiency in their schools, homes, and communities
· Build pathways to green careers
· Save energy and lower school energy costs through no-cost behavior and operational changes
The Project Leader will work closely with a core school team of teachers, administrators, custodians, and students to integrate energy education into their classroom learning, carry out energy-saving projects at school, and take the energy efficiency message home and into the community.
Primary Responsibilities
· Program Implementation
o Work with schools and their teams (teachers, administrators, custodians, and students) to coordinate and implement deliverables for EmPowered Schools and other education programs:
o Coordinate and facilitate program-wide meetings
o Collaborate with Alliance staff and fellow Education team staff
o Report on progress
·Team Support
o Present at relevant conferences
o Support website buildout for new curricula and modifications based on teacher feedback
o Write posts for the Alliance blog
o Other activities as opportunities develop
·Growth & Professional Development Opportunities
o Pursue professional growth channels through independently identified professional development opportunities, funded by the Alliance
Required Qualifications
· A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a team player
·Strong written and oral communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills, good time management, and detail orientation
· Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
· Meeting facilitation and presentation experience
· Experience working in schools
· Basic skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Documents
Desired Qualifications
· Teaching experience or other experience working with K-12 students
· Experience working with diverse populations
· Spanish proficiency
· Knowledge in the energy field, and energy efficiency in particular
· Applicants willing to commit to a minimum 1-2 year tenure
· Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Compensation
Salary is approximately $47,500-$55,000, based on work history and skillset, with participation in the employee benefit plan of the Alliance which includes health, dental, and vision insurance and 401(k) matching.
