Materials Manager:
The Materials Manager will be responsible for all production scheduling, shipping and receiving, purchasing, material flow, inventory management as well as the development and execution of the overall materials strategy. Key performance indicators for this position are clean rate/material availability, inventory accuracy and turns, indirect labor productivity and on-time delivery.
What You Will Do:
Facilitate a culture of employee engagement and continuous improvement to achieve objectives in safety, quality, delivery, lead-time and cost.
Ensures optimization of all materials management activities including material availability, scheduling, material and information flow, purchasing, inventory control, materials movement, supplier performance measurement, and indirect materials management.
Facilitates interaction with Sourcing, Engineering, Accounting, Marketing, Enterprise Excellence, Operations, Human Resources and Quality Assurance in support of the business’s strategic goals.
Develops and drives root cause problem solving and countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers.
Provide leadership in selecting, developing and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of materials functions and Allegion’s operating goals and objectives.
Manage suppliers, materials and inventory in a manner consistent with the requirements of a lean manufacturing environment.
Ensures ownership and execution of PFEP (Plan for Every Part), markets and timed material delivery routes. Reviews PFEP monthly as a function of demand and ensures that the appropriate adjustments are made.
Participates in monthly SIOP meetings and ensures alignment of the production plan to the published SIOP consensus plan.
Drives continuous improvement to material and information flow.
Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
Develop and implement a professional development program for materials personnel.
Drive improved supplier relationships.
Drives material function improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost and people using the MDI (Managing Daily Improvement) process
Create a team building environment in which direct and indirect report can live the Allegion values.
Lead and improve inventory accuracy and develop and execute regular cycle counting along with annual physical inventory.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering discipline.
Preferred experience in a world-class lean operation
APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) (desired)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the integrated functions of materials management in a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts and progressive supplier relationships.
Experience in operations, inventory management, ERP and lean manufacturing processes.
Experience with visual management systems.

In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant.
Must possess a strong customer service orientation and provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements.
Must be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team-oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.
Must have solid interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and to interact with various departments throughout the organization.
Must be a flexible, decisive and proactive problem solver.
Must know how to influence bottom line results.
Must be a strong communicator and possess strong organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
Must be able to work well in high pressure, fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution.
Must be proficient in information technology systems utilized in Materials Management.
