Job Purpose

Working as a key part of the agile product team, the Software Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the technical delivery of the product roadmap and provision of the digital product.

The role will be hands on in building and maintaining the AllBright digital platform, specifically focused on web and mobile based products and ultimately supporting the company to achieve its business goals.

Objectives & Key Responsibilities of this Role

• Working with the product team to deliver the digital product
• Hands-on development of first class software
• Contribution to the development of solution architecture
• Demonstrate responsibility for production quality
• Contribute to the adoption and adaption of appropriate software development methods, tools and techniques.
• Operate in compliance with company policies, processes, standards and guidelines for software development.
• Work with the Principal Software Engineer to develop a high performing software development team

General Responsibilities

• To undertake any additional duties as reasonably directed by Management
• To adhere to company practices and procedures always in particular those relating to discipline, and Health and Safety
• To ensure good communication with all colleagues and supervisors

Person Specification

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience implementing systems in different technologies, with experience across the stack, from front-end to backend systems
• Understanding of system design and software architecture
• Understanding of software engineering best practices, including build configuration and processes, code quality, testing practices and operations
• Experience in collaborating with other teams and stakeholders
• Product owners, showing strong experience in collaborating to define, design, develop, deliver and support software
• Understanding of test-driven development and developer-driven testing
• Experience of working in agile teams and with agile practices

Education

• A degree in software engineering or similar technical discipline is desirable
