Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate Design Team to ensure line is representative of the Self Esteem image. Analyze fashion trends and predictions. Compare materials and integrate findings with personal interests, tastes, and knowledge of design to steer new designs for the assigned division.  Source new fabrics, new fabric development and coordinate production fabric purchases. Identify and create seasonal color palettes.  Shall be responsible for import and special projects product development. Analyze European and Domestic fashion trends and predictions, and confer with President and Sr. VP Sales.

Qualifications

Ability to identify and translate design concepts into representative mix of trends for Self Esteem market and niche opportunities.  Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Possess leadership qualities to independently problem-solve, analyze and articulate information, concisely and clearly communicate and ensure coordination of tasks to effectively meet Company and Division needs.

Supervisory 

Directly supervise the Division Staff. Supervisory responsibilities include training, coaching and counseling, focus meetings, sourcing and interviewing prospective employees, and resolution of problems as they arise.

Duties

1. Identify and devise opportunities to maximize efficiency and decrease expenses. Analyze productivity, outside services, store bought samples and overall Design Room workflow to improve efficiency and output of Division.
2. Identify, create and coordinate merchandise focus for Designer’s product development for monthly market.
3. Research market trends (US/ Europe) and offer new concepts.
4. Source new fabrics and development fabrics.
5. Create seasonal color palettes, themes, and fabrications.
6. Lab dip and strike –off approvals Domestic and Import (fabric development for production).
7. Attendance at monthly markets.
8. Travel to Europe for sourcing, seasonally.
9. Supervise workflow of first pattern work and assist with prioritizing needs, as necessary.
10. Ensure issuance of first samples for cutting in a timely manner.
11. Perform first fittings.
12. Interface with Sales Staff, Costing Dept., Pre-Production and Production Departments to ensure that requests are being fulfilled and information is properly communicated.

 Skills and Experience  

1. Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
2. Ability to sketch/CAD
3. Strong attention to detail
4. Exceptional time management and communication skills
5. Minimum of 5 years of experience in people management
