About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 12-month maternity cover. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant is responsible for analysing financial information to ensure financial transaction accuracy, to support the delivery of management reports and statutory accounts to key stakeholders.

Duties:

• Responsible for the full month end close process and P&L analytical reviews with commercial stakeholders
• Understand the meaning of data in the context of a transaction to determine reporting accuracy (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflow)
• Prepare half and full year financial information that supports the delivery of Alinta’s statutory reporting requirements
• Understand, analyse, and communicate financial information to help support General Managers to improve performance and manage risk
• Apply an acute understanding of where data flow is not optimised and make suggestions for improvement

Skills and experience:

• Solid experience in a financial or management accounting role, preferably in the energy and utilities industry
• CA/CPA Qualification (or equivalent)
• In-depth knowledge of good financial governance practice
• Confident approach with strong presentation skills to Senior Management
• Advanced to Intermediate Excel skills (essential) / data interrogation and financial modelling (desirable)

The role has a primary focus on supporting the Power Generation business and will partner closely with Analyst and Business Partnering colleagues; excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be paramount to your success. Having energy industry experience would be a huge plus but this isn’t essential.
