Business Controller – UK & Ireland

Position Summary and Objectives of the Business Controller

The Business Controller is responsible for providing best in class financial planning to Alexion’s businesses in the UK and Ireland ensuring dedicated world class business partnering for the business unit leaders to drive profitable, sustainable business growth.

The person needs to be capable of using their financial skillset and business acumen to provide technical and more general business leadership for the entire organization.

The person needs to be able to demonstrate strong communication skills locally and at a regional and corporate level.

The key objectives are:

• Provision of world class business partnering via:
  • Financial planning to deliver profitable sustainable growth
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of key value drivers in the business
  • The provision of robust financial forecasting models and communication of these models to the key business owners to drive reliable forecasts and highlight actions to deliver improved performance.
  • Provision of prompt financial reporting and KPI’s to help the business meet and exceed its goals

Principal Responsibilities

• Establish strategic plans, annual budgets and monthly forecasts in line with regional and Corporate timelines and ensure accuracy within Corporate target levels
• Provide accurate monthly financial reporting to local and regional management aimed at delivering quarterly and annual targets both for revenues and expenses.
• Implement corporate forecasting models for revenue projections ensuring local data available to ensure accurate quarterly forecasts
• Identify and quantify the key risks and opportunities to the business in each forecasting cycle
• Business partner with the local leadership team to:
  • Ensure local management team have a clear understanding of the financial impact of key decisions
  • Implement a robust process to accurately forecast headcount changes and quantify their impact in forecasts and budgets
  • Provide ad hoc analysis related to pricing and all pricing & reimbursement processes
  • Provide financial analysis and evaluation of ad hoc projects as required by the business

• Support local team with operational finance coordination and issue resolution including Accounts Payable/Receivable and vendor management.
• Support the Finance Director on ad hoc projects

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Finance / Controlling position
• Experience in one of the Big Advisory Companies is a strong plus
• A professional accounting qualification – CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
• Experience in international organizations
• Experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry preferred
• Good Computer skills (advanced Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of an ERP, SAP or similar
• Fluency in English both written and oral mandatory
