You’re diligent, switched-on and have stellar attention to detail. You have an array of skills gained from your tertiary qualifications in accounting finance, administration or other relevant field. And if you’re not a recent graduate, that’s okay too – if you have equivalent practical experience we would love to hear from you!

We are Alexandrina Council, a thriving community situated on the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. The area is supported by diverse industries including tourism, viticulture, general farming and dairying, fruit production, manufacturing, engineering and boat building. It is close enough to Adelaide to make it an easily accessible and desirable holiday and tourist destination. Council boasts rural, river and coastal vistas.

We currently have an opportunity for a full time, Assistant Accountant to join us. You would love this opportunity to provide vital support to our Finance Department, as you facilitate data input, data collection, reconciliations and reporting. You will need to be accessible to internal and external clients in the provision of accurate and timely information; effectively liaise with a wide range of departments on budget management issues; and provide back up support for other finance functions including Creditors, Debtors, Rates and Payroll Officers as necessary.

• Good knowledge of procedural/operational methods related to finance activities.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and methods.
• Experience in computer based accounting systems, databases and spreadsheets.
• Application of Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax regulations.
• Experience in Local Government desirable
