Financial Accountant (inside IR35)

Contracting Authority: Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Location: Remote

Duration: 3 months

The Financial Accountant is a key strategic role within the CQC

This role is responsible for the production of the financial accounts, statutory accounts and the preparation of financial account information and schedules. This role plays a lead role in liaising with external audit as part of their work, as well as DHSC in agreeing quarterly consolidation schedules and grant-in-aid cash draw downs. They are also responsible for producing accurate cash flow analysis for CQC and maintaining an accurate fixed asset register – liaising with asset owners and project managers in the process – which has been subject to audit recommendations in recent years

As a Financial Accountant your main responsibilities would be

• Responsible for the production of financial accounts, statutory accounts and the preparation of financial accounting information and schedules.
• Supports the Finance Manager in providing a robust and effective financial accounting service.
• Prepares the Statutory Accounts.
• Prepares Whole of Government Accounts.
• Responsible for the production of Balance Sheet projections and Cash flow analysis.
• Ensures that external financial reporting and other regulations are met in accordance with agreed timetables.
• Ensures compliance with statutory and other regulatory financial regulations and reporting requirements.
• Ensures compliance with CQC’s internal financial regulations.
• Maintains up to date knowledge of Accounting Standards and ensures that these are correctly applied in CQC.
• Provides relevant advice to CQC management on accounting standards.
• Provides documentation and provides the necessary training for finance staff in relation to new Accounting standards and statutory requirements.
• Work closely with the Systems Accountant to provide robust, effective financial systems that are fit for purpose and which support CQC’s business objectives.
• Maintains financial records effectively and ensures that security is assured at all times.
• Undertakes any other duties consistent with the basic objectives and duties of the post.

Essentials:

• Qualified Accountant.
• Extensive experience of Statutory Accounts.
• Extensive IFRS experience.
• Has experience of systems designs to ensure operations are fit for purpose
• Fixed Asset or Capital Accounting.
• Audit preparation
