Role: Accountant (inside IR35)

Contracting Authority: Her Majesty’s Courts & Tribunals service (HMCTS) Ministry of Justice (MOJ)

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 months (Potential For extension)

As part of a new Expert Domain area, you will play a key role in the continuous improvement of products and processes relating to your team’s expert cost area; to improve efficiency, accuracy and financial controls, you will be required to work with other finance and operational colleagues to collaborate and impact appropriately and ultimately increase effectiveness and expertise within your team

As an Accountant your main responsibilities would be

• Ensure team delivery of month-end activities in a timely manner and to the required standard i.e. Journals, reports and variance analysis
• Ensure effective controls and procedures are in place to maintain the accuracy of the data in our financial systems, for your area.
• Provide analysis and assurance on the integrity of transactions in the general ledger and balances in the month end accounts, undertaking further investigation where required.
• Work collaboratively with financial controllers and other senior staff in finance and our wider business community, to identify and deliver ways to improve our finance products and processes
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and insight for the area you cover.
• Work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management.

Essential Criteria

• Experience in the preparation and review of month-end management accounting activities including processing and assurance, variance narrative and reporting.
• Adaptable and willing, with the ability to work in a culture of change; continually improving (products, processes and priorities) to meet the current and future needs of the organisation.
• Interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships with wider stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal skills and IT skills (particularly Excel).
• Desirable but not essential; CCAB (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS, ICAI part or full membership highly desired), AAT qualified, or considerable financial experience gained over an extended period

• Experience of working in the Public sector
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
