Aldwych Consulting Looking for Assistant Drainage Design Engineer at Manchester, Greater Manchester Full Time

My client is delivering a wide range of exciting drainage schemes, which will give you the opportunity to develop your experience and support exciting, high-profile projects and frameworks.

I am looking for an Assistant Drainage Design Engineer with experience in highway & transportation focused drainage design to join my client’s Manchester based drainage team, working on projects ranging across the highway design environment from strategic to local authority schemes.

Key responsibilities:

• Knowledge and experience of drainage design and standards, and application of these on projects.
• Communicate with confidence, and work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
• Use your excellent analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineering judgement to appraise and recommend options.
• Undertake designs, production of and review design documentation including sketches, drawings, calculations, reports and specifications.
• Work with the wider team to develop technical design, improving your knowledge, experience and contributing to the development of the team.
• Stay abreast of industry developments and changes in standards.

Key requirements:

• BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Member accreditation of a relevant Professional Body.
• Experience in civil engineering design and relevant local and UK highway design guides.
• Good written and oral standard of English.
• Understanding of drainage design standards, including DMRB, local authority standards and Sewers for Adoption/DCG.
• Knowledge and experience of Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) designs and standards.
• Ability to use drainage design software such as Micro Drainage and/or Causeway Flow.
• Ability to plan, deliver and manage the technical delivery of a highway drainage design, including managing junior staff.
• Experience of carrying out tasks are within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Experience and understanding of Civil 3D/CAD and the BIM design environment.
• Ability to deliver all aspects of a highway drainage design, including models, reports, calculations, drawings / details and specifications.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues and clients for projects of varying sizes and scales.
