Bridge Design Engineer
Location: Work from home and across UK offices in UK

This role is situated within their Transport division.
We invite you to bring your growing experience as a bridge engineer into play working within project teams delivering varied and complex solutions against target costs and programmes. To succeed in this role you must be working towards full membership of an appropriate professional institution, and have a good degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) ideally with Civil Engineering MEng.
Working full time or part time as our new Design Engineer you will be part of a dynamic Bridges team working both virtually and physically across our UK offices and beyond. The team deliver a wide range of technically complex projects from restoring vital existing bridge structures to advanced linear infrastructure. The team is also one of the leading exponents of productization and digitalization with a strong emphasis on Design for Manufacture. The client operates a flexible working policy, and with this you will be part of an exciting team of experts, who respect each other and work towards a common goal.
Your key tasks and responsibilities could include:
* Participate in the identification and development of innovative design solutions for complex challenges.
* Perform detailed analysis using computer modelling: creating, reviewing and interpreting technical material
* Undertake project research including surveys and inspections
* Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and more efficient ways of working
* Help to promote the brand and support business development
* Apply and promote policies relating to health and safety, quality, and the development of others
* Take a supporting management role for projects and represent the brand at external client meetings
* Assist with the management of costs, resources and programmes across a portfolio of internal and external projects
* Plan, undertake, coordinate, and help to supervise technical work on bids and projects
* Mentor and develop others to achieve professional qualifications
Your qualifications:
* BEng (Hons)/MEng Degree in Civil Engineering
* Working towards Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, MICE or equivalent relevant institution.
* An understanding of contract administration including awareness of NEC4
* Awareness of resourcing, progress measurement, earned value analysis, completion forecasting and status reporting
* Good working knowledge of analysis and modelling software, for example including LUSAS, Sofistik and AutoCAD
* Experience or knowledge of project digital delivery process and BIM requirements common to large infrastructure clients
* A confident and professional manner, coupled with excellent communication skills, with clients and colleagues alike, to ensure clarity in all situations and to effectively influence
Key Accomplishments for the first 12 months:
* Undertaking leadership of a key element within a larger project
* Developing a strong understanding of a key aspect of design
* Taking responsibility for the delivery of a small project
Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include: Will have a proven record as a competent designer on a number of projects, with an ability to communicate material of a specialist or technical nature clearly, and to be recognized as able to work effectively with people (staff and clients), as well as working well under pressure.
