About the role
We are looking for a Software Developer to join Airbus Defence & Space, in either our Guildford or Newcastle upon Tyne offices. You will join our Connected Intelligence group and report to our Head of Software Development.
With proprietary access to the world’s leading commercial satellite constellation Airbus Intelligence deliver sustainable satellite imagery and geospatial data solutions that span the entire value chain and are unrivalled in the marketplace. The applications we serve are manifold and include maritime surveillance, precision agriculture, emergency response and environmental monitoring. As world-leading experts in geo-information and defence solutions, we help decision makers to increase security, optimise mission planning, improve management of resources and protect our environment.
You will create and assist in the development and maintenance of software systems and components, working to departmental development standards. As an experienced developer, you will mentor and support junior developers in your team. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm for creative innovative solutions, which exceed customer expectations.
You will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance and must have 5 years consecutive UK residency to obtain this.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities include:
Responsible for designing and delivering cloud-based services in collaboration with the engineering team.
Developing clean, readable, scalable and easily maintained code that meets requirements, adhering to the open-closed principle
Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will enhance team velocity
Contribute to quality assurance by writing unit and functional tests
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines
Provide documentation and ensure shared knowledge of solutions implemented
Work with the scrum team to meet the team sprint commitments using agile methodology
Required Skills and Experience
If you answer yes to the following then we’d love to hear from you:
Strong Object Oriented Programming skills in C# .NET.
Experience of developing in Cloud environments.
Excellent communication skills and team spirit.
Any experience of the following would be great
Developing micro services
SQL Databases
Developing Android applications using Xamarin
Understanding of DevOps and associated tools (Jenkins, Git, etc).
