Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Global Module Logistics Manager.

This position is responsible for leading the global planning, coordinating, monitoring and execution of module specific logistics operations for proposals and capital projects. The incumbent is charged with supporting the development of sound execution strategies to balance execution risk and competitiveness and ensure timely delivery of fabricated modules. Negotiating and implementing contracts with suitable module shipping companies. The incumbent interfaces primarily with the Project Delivery Supply Chain Team, Engineering Modularization Leads, Regional Logistics Managers, Trade Compliance, Proposals and Project Execution teams.

The incumbent will be required to have intimate knowledge of the overall module logistics markets, regulatory requirements, practices, and standards. This position supports supplier/contractor relationship management to ensure alignment with operations and business strategies. This position challenges technical specifications, commercial practices, operating practices, and business processes with a focus on driving cost-effective operations. Robust project logistics knowledge, project management, planning and negotiating skills are essential.

The position is office-based with occasional travel to service providers and job sites.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Global Module Logistics Manager is expected to:

• Develop strategies which ensure competitive, compliant, and timely solutions for shipping modules from fabrication sites to construction sites.
• Lead the commercial contracting negotiations with module logistics service providers.
• Establish and manage service provider relationship management with the prominent module transportation companies.
• Effectively manage the execution of the proposal estimate for module logistics scope, interfacing with the project team and other regional project logistics teams.
• Interface with a variety of functions including supply chain, proposal team, modularization center of excellence, operations, engineering, legal, and business management to achieve goals.
• Lead sourcing reviews with cross functional teams
• Manage shipping cost estimates and develop forecasts.
• Work with project teams to identify and mitigate risks.
• Identify, develop, and manage service providers in accordance with company procedures understanding safety, ethics, commercial and capacity risks.
• Understand the global module shipping market, and the regions in which we operate.
• Regular external interface with module shipping companies and trade organizations
• Monitor, communicate, and respond to changing market conditions.
• Bring innovative solutions to maximize value proposition for individual projects and or across the supply chain.
• Effectively participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
• Proactively interact with the center of excellence for modularization, engineering, and construction to develop viable transportation strategies that will minimize risks and reap cost and schedule benefits to projects.

Critical Competencies

• Experience in setting and executing module logistic strategies within large and complex capital projects, managing execution, and ensuring on-time, quality and under budget.

• Have collaborated in the past with shipping industry companies to leverage efficiently our global project workload and any competitive benefits.
• Have performed studies around varying module sizes and types of vessels to come up with optimized project solutions. Ability to drive standardization on this back to engineering and project teams.
• Experience with route surveys during early project stages and conceptual development
• Experience writing contracts for either heavy haulers, or for shippers (bimco)
• Experience working with module / project teams early in a project to develop a fit for purpose solution where all variables are not always fully developed.

• Robust knowledge of Module Logistics market and experience in moving modules globally within an EPC project environment
• Experience in the coordination and management of the shipping process of fabricated modules (land & ocean)
• Sense of ownership and urgency and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
• 20+ years’ experience in Project Logistics in an EPC Project environment, with a heavy concentration in module specifics logistics
• Ex-shipper or ex-heavy hauler experience is a benefit.
• Logistics experience in support of mega size projects
• Knowledge of commercial contracting procedures and practice, including aspects of negotiation and contract law
• Oil and Gas / Industrial Gas industry experience
