All airports must comply with ICAO regulations, making bird-strike reporting mandatory and SafeSkys provides this Wildlife Hazard Management service to 14 military bases across the UK. Founded over 25 years ago, they now form part of the Air Partner Group, a member of the Wheels UP family. Our teams effectively limit the danger to commercial and private aircraft of bird and wildlife strikes, which can have a catastrophic effect, endangering passengers, aircraft and crew, helping to make the skies a safer place.

We are looking for a part or fully qualified Finance Officer to work on a mostly remote basis, however there will be some occasional visits to either our Bracknell or Gatwick based offices. This is a 5 month fixed term, maternity cover contract from early August, to allow for a good handover.

You will report into the Safety Finance Manager and have a dotted line to the General Manager of SafeSkys, and you will be responsible for the financial stewardship of SafeSkys.

We will consider all levels of experience and the salary offered will be dependent on this. Normal hours are 7 a day Monday to Friday (37 per week), although we would consider some felx on this, so if you are looking to work part time or do less hours to accommodate schools runs etc., please still apply, and just make this clear in your application.

What you will be doing:

· Managing SafeSkys finances

· Ensuring a quality month end close, explaining key P&L variances

· Simplifying, improving and streamlining business systems, processes and controls where appropriate

· Ensuring compliance with legal, taxation and other reporting obligations

· Acting as Finance Business Partner to the General Manager, providing value business insights and support

· Actively managing and financial stewardship of the forecasting processes, working to the Group timetable

· Ensuring SafeSkys complies fully with the Group Operating rules and other Group policies

· Releasing payments in accordance to the Group’s operating rules and delegated authority

· Raising invoices to customers, largely military airports

· Ensuring that SafeSkys complies with SOX (Sorbanes Oxley)

· Participating in finance improvement projects as required

· Supporting the implementation of an upgraded finance system in due course

· Ad hoc projects as required

What we are looking for:

· A fully qualified Accountant or partly qualified with experience in a relevant role

· Excellent people and communication skills

· A highly analytical approach

· Someone who enjoys working to deadlines and has a keen attention to detail

· Strong commercial knowledge as well as a sound understanding of financial issues, including current accounting standards

· An ability to support others and build relationships with stakeholders of all levels
