The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking a Director of Education for our Chicago office.

This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote). Starting base salary = $98 – $115k (commensurate with related experience).
The Director of Education is responsible for leading staff and volunteers in the development and
implementation of ASHE’s educational strategies. Leads in development, execution and evaluation of
educational programs and services, ensuring that educational goals of adult learners are met through
various educational modalities and that financial goals are met. The Director provides oversight for the
Annual Conference including budgetary responsibility and accountability. The Director of Education works
with volunteers, staff, consultants, and vendors to set and implement the educational agenda in alignment
with the strategic plan. Delivers educational programs, oversees the worker certification and front line
programs:
Serves as a key member of the ASHE leadership team in providing strategic and operational management for the ASHE educational department. Manages and oversees all related business activities related to educational programming in support of the overall strategic and financial goals of ASHE, including the management of resources, contracts and personnel. Develop and manage budgets with accountability to insure revenues and expenses align with strategic plan. Provides accurate forecast as requested.
Analyzes the educational and practice needs of professionals working to improve the health care environment, in particular, facility managers, contractors, designers and infection experts. Manages and oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of current and future educational products, publications and services. Oversees internal and external subject matter experts in the creation and development of new curriculum, program content for face-to-face, online, webinars, and other educational assets. Works with publications department to identify needed resources for future education programs. Ensures quality, consistency, and relevance of educational assets. Builds relationships with thought leaders within the field including a network of reliable content experts. Manages the delivery of educational programs, face-to-face and virtually. Develops and oversees processes and schedules for registration management, material development, onsite logistical management and support, hosting e-based learning programs, program evaluation and ongoing customer support. Produces distance learning courses and works collaboratively with the technology staff, as needed. Works collaboratively with the communications staff in the promotion and marketing of programs. Oversees internal or external team members for onsite logistics of face-to-face programs. Provides oversight for the development and execution of the PDC and the Annual conference, in conjunction with the contracted meeting planners. Manages the process of applying for and maintaining provider status for continuing education for nursing, architecture and engineering attendees. Oversees the ASHE continuing education program and preferred education provider program. Serves as staff liaison to assigned committees and task forces. Responsibilities include drafting meeting agendas, coordinating meetings and conference calls, drafting programs/strategies to be discussed on the agenda, drafting and distributing minutes, tracking follow-ups, assisting with developing and monitoring the assigned budget cost centers, and ensuring reports are completed for each board meeting. Develops and maintains knowledge of the committee’s area of expertise and works effectively and cooperatively with volunteers. Manages the faculty/facilitator/speaker teams in the development and delivery of educational programs. Recruits, trains and supports faculty and manages their role in the content development and delivery processes.
