Agronomix Hiring for Breeding Software Professional at Winnipeg, MB Full Time

Position Summary

Agronomix Software, a leading software development company for plant breeding and agronomy, has an immediate full-time permanent opening for a plant breeding software professional. Expected start date would be March 1, 2022, or soon thereafter, however the position will remain open until the idea candidate is found. You will be part of a team of professionals located in Winnipeg, MB, who support and develop our software used in over 40 countries worldwide by plant breeders and agronomists at seed companies, universities, and government research centres. You will interact with plant breeders worldwide running breeding and variety testing programs for many different crops and breeding systems.

This position will revolve around our all-new software application, GENOVIX.

Duties and Responsibilities

Interact with the company’s software development team for the ongoing development of the new GENOVIX software application for plant breeding and variety testing.

Assist in the development of the on-line Help system of GENOVIX for our growing global user base.

Assist in the quality control and testing for all releases.

As part of the support team, help provide technical support for plant breeders globally who use our software.

As one of the software trainers, conduct software training courses for our users worldwide.

Assist in software demonstrations under the direction of the international sales representative.

Skills and Qualifications

Proven knowledge of plant breeding and experience in a conventional plant breeding program.

An MSc or PhD in plant breeding, or a closely related discipline.

Sound knowledge of experimental design and statistics, experience in field research.

Strongly computer literate.

Knowledge of R and bioinformatics in plant breeding would be an asset.

Experience in teaching or training would be an asset.

Ability to travel internationally post COVID-19.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.

Passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Strong relational, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
