Role Title: Data Engineer – Developer

Salary Range: £30k to £50k depending on attitude, experience, skills and knowledge
Location: Working from home with regular visits to Bristol, UK and Malaga, Spain Offices as well as visiting customer sites in UK and Ireland, international travel may also be required.

JOB PURPOSE:

Work within a team of data focused professionals to assist in delivering projects where high volumes of data and documents needs to be, exported, and imported, cleansed and re-aligned for a SaaS environment. Assist with data architecture and improvements in day-to-day management and extraction and import, to improve our delivery of services to our customers.

PRIMARY ROLE & RESPONSIBLITIES:

This is a role with flexibility to grow and develop.

The experience and knowledge of the candidate will dictate the responsibilities. There is some flexibility with the knowledge, experience and skills of the individual selected. The key is the attitude to learning and developing.

This list of duties is to indicate the type of role and responsibilities the selected candidate will be expected to deliver, example responsibilities/skills include:

• Build data migration frameworks and scripts
• Merging data and databases when necessary
• A solid understanding of existing and emerging data technologies
• Manipulation of existing datasets to deliver to the customer requirements.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively translate sophisticated concepts into easily understandable language
• Restoring lost data where and when appropriate
• Building test versions and testing for bugs
• In-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of good systems design

ADDITIONAL GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND CONSIDERATIONS

• Contribution to procedures and ensuring that procedures are followed by both yourself and the support / delivery team.
• Responding and fielding enquiries.

Allocation / checking of work

• Using own initiative to manage work volumes and priorities.

Responsible for but not exclusive to:

• Data/Software troubleshooting, including investigation and diagnosis of issues related to data or software installation, configuration and application.
• Conducting root cause investigation and feeding the information gathered back to the software development teams
• Logging and maintaining support case history, ensuring solutions are communicated in a clear and concise manner
• Contributing to any developed software products and solutions testing
• Be prepared to provide scheduled, on-call support during evenings and weekends, infrequently but as and if required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in data science, computer science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, C#, SQL Server, IIS, ASP.NET (or other .NET web experience)

Desirable:

• Commercial experience using C# and SqL
• Experience using object data mapping
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills

Internally: You will deal with all members of the internal team which includes software developers, support team and consultants. You will also be required to report to and work with various members of the team. You will also be required to work with contracted staff as and when they are engaged.

Externally: All customers, including local authorities, suppliers and service providers. You will deal with customers face to face (when allowed due to Covid-19), by telephone, Teams, WebEx, as well as in written communication form, email or otherwise. You will be required to attend customer sites throughout Europe, currently Ireland and UK with frequent visits to Malaga. A full UK driving license is required
