Environmental Technician

The Organization:

A.E.W. LP was formed in 2017 by Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council member communities to carry out “on the ground” work related to archaeology, the environment and wildlife protection. This work has been made necessary by activities of others within the Nlaka’pamux homeland including transportation, mining, forestry, oil and gas, and utilities projects. The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is not opposed to development within our homeland, but developments and activities must be consistent with Nlaka’pamux title and rights.

The Role:

A.E.W. Limited Partnership (A.E.W. LP) is seeking a permanent full-time Environmental Technician based out of beautiful Kamloops, BC.

The Environmental Technician will assist the Environmental and Wildlife team in completing daily tasks including field work, ing and data analysis. • Conduct environmental sampling of soil, surface, and groundwater.
• Conduct environmental inspections for environmental compliance.
• Provide environmental monitoring expertise to clients including habitat protection, sediment and erosion control, and water quality monitoring.
• Discharge and stream flow measurements.
• Basic surveying.
• Assist biologists with daily tasks such as bird surveys, amphibian sweeps, and fish salvages.
• Provide equipment calibration, maintenance, and tracking.
• Prepare project specific Emergency Response Plans.
• Participate in basic writing, tabulating data, designing figures/drawings.
• Be committed to being a positive team member.
• Be committed to the protection and advancement of Nlaka’pamux title and rights.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Environmental Studies/Resource Management or related field is preferred.
• Experience operating in a dynamic environment that requires flexibility and teamwork.
• Possess a current and valid Canadian Driver’s License.
• An ability/interest to work in the field, occasionally in remote locations for extended periods of time.
• Physically fit and able to complete strenuous tasks such as hiking, snowshoeing, and carrying heavy supplies to sample sites.
• Demonstrated experience working as a positive team contributor.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills (prioritizing, time management, record keeping, follow up).
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when collecting field notes.
