Advocate Printing & Publishing is currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join us as 2nd Pressperson for our Heatset web press and Coldset web Press at our print production facility located at 181 Brown’s Point Road, Pictou, Nova Scotia. ing to the Production Manager, the 2nd Pressperson will be responsible for assisting with the set-up, operation, and maintenance of multi-color printing press in accordance with the specifications and customer requirements.

What you will do:

• Assist 1st Pressperson by making necessary color or register corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
• Play an active role in the maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned press and surrounding work area
• Help coach, train and communicate job requirements to joggers and roll stand operators
• Adhere to all production schedules quickly addressing any issues with head pressperson and/or manager
• Support and contribute to a mentally & physically safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including ing all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
• Ensure that all safety mechanisms are in place and functioning and that PPE is used by all crew members
• Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Two to three years of 2nd Pressperson experience in a printing facility,
• Demonstrate knowledge of press equipment and the processes
• Basic math, measurement, mechanical, statistical process control, interpersonal communication, and problem solving
• Understanding of workflow, printing press operations, printing system components, printing instruments and tools and printing substrates and materials
• Ability to accurately see colors
• Possess the ability to take direction, work with supervision, and work well within a team
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, and able to stand for eight to twelve hours daily.
• Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
