Job Summary

The manufacturing and production electronics technician/engineer is responsible for coordinating both the in house and subcontract manufacturing of our products. This position will interface with our engineering department to assure all documentation is in order per our ISO standards and assist in the supervision and scheduling of production for both our in house and subcontracted workers. The ideal candidate will also be proactive in product development with engineering to assure efficient design, testing jigs, work instructions and documentation for manufacturing purposes. You will work in the Departments of engineering and production, reporting to the President. As a principal electronics specialist you will act as technical support for manufacturing and development. Your mandate is to act as the electronics specialist responsible to evaluate, measure, and qualify the products in production and in development.

This position requires at least 50% of the time to be spent as an integral part of the R&D team for testing, evaluation and research and development of new products and 50% in product manufacturing support.

Responsibilities and Duties

Job Responsibilities Include:

Product Manufacturing

• Directly manage manufacturing operations as well as supervise production employees and organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing employee schedules;
• Provide leadership and direct management to manufacturing operations, including SMT, Soldering and Mechanical assembly and coordinate with the Buyer and Shipping/Receiving/Material management personnel;
• Develop and maintain KPI for production department and take action to meet goals;
• Monitor production efficiencies and optimize as needed;
• Manage and Maintain ISO database
• Enter the Bill of Materials and Assembly Procedures in the ERP system
• Maintain the Bill of Materials and Assembly Procedures for each product
• Maintain work instructions for the assembly of the products
• Review and update product conformity and specifications;
• Help define the test procedure and technical compliance of technical specifications;
• Manage and update ERP system to current status for jobs in the WHIP and completed jobs;
• Assure that production transactions are properly recorded in ERP system and all material has been issued for jobs in the system;
• Kitting parts for production employees by job;
• Prepare parts needed for jobs issued both to internal production and to sub-contractors;
• Quality Assurance of completed jobs;
• Update ERP for receipt of jobs in system;
• Close Jobs and check costing and relevant KPIs
• Participate in production meetings and submit reports on performance and progress of production;
• Coordinate with Sub-Contractors, Shipping/Receiving, Internal Production, Inside Support and Buyer for timely delivery of product;
• Check Sales Orders with Inside Sales for accuracy before issuing of Work Orders to production or engineering;
• Training of new production & shipping/receiving employees;
• Manage the shipping/receiving department;
• Prepare and sign Certificates of Conformity;
• Ensure smooth running of annual physical inventory count;
• Required to comply, perform, update and maintain all required ISO procedures and reporting applicable to this position;
• Responsible for Health & Safety of work environment and periodic training of employees on the topic;
• Stay current with CPR workplace training (CSST).

Product R&D Responsibilities

• Research technical, commercial, military, and industrial specifications.
• Help design new products and overcome technical hurtles to bring new innovations to market;
• Help assemble prototype models to verify the criteria and objectives;
• Debug and test prototypes to evaluate the concepts and its procedures;
• Debug and repair electronic circuits;
• Program, edit, and configure complex electronic systems;
• Design and implement test procedures to meet objectives;
• Assembly of new prototypes issued by engineering and effectively introduce new products to the production floor;
• Suggest and implement corrective actions to resolve problems incurred;
• Work closely with the design engineers to improve product reliability and production process;
• Maintain required documentation to the development of the products.

Qualifications and Skills

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Electronic Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Technical Diploma, Micro Electronics Diploma, or equivalent
• Must have good knowledge of how to use electronic measurement equipment.
• Familiar with automated verification and measuring systems.
• Statistical production analysis principles.
• Familiar with analog and digital signal debug principles.
• Electronic Assembly process in Surface Mount Technologies (SMT).
• Competent with Electronic schematics, Specifications, and Data sheets.
• Be familiar with Microcontrollers and programming (C/C++ , & PIC Assembler)
• Be familiar with electronics design software (Altium, Protel, Orcad, Autocad, etc .)
• Be familiar with designing and fabricating electronic circuits for test jigs and measuring equipment.
• Be familiar with Solidworks for electro-mechanical design
• 2 years’ experience in an Electronics Assembly Environment
• Knowledge and experience working with ERP/MRP systems (particularly Epicor);
• Good knowledge of IPC standards;
• Knowledge and competency working in an IS0 9001:2015 environment;
• Superior knowledge of electronic circuit modification and electronic components
• Competent at authoring and reading electronic and mechanical drawings for electro-mechanical integration;
• Knowledge in cable assembly
• Good knowledge of MS-Office and Excel
