Telecommunications Engineer Level 2

Position Details

Position Title: Telecommunications Engineer Level 2

Employment Status: Permanent

Salary Range: $60000- $110000/ per year

s To: Project Lead

Positions Supervises: Level 1 Telecommunications Engineers.

Location: Washington D.C. Metropolitan area

Position Summary

• Responsible for tasks relating to voice and data telecommunications.
• Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on the area/project team.
• Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
• May assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.

Duties Statement

• Provides support in Telecommunications planning and engineering.
• Performs assessments and proposes improvements on current communication technologies.
• Performs assessments on impact of new proposed telecommunication technologies on current telecommunication systems.
• Supports customer participation in ITU-R special committees and working groups.
• Reviews proposals for compliance with applicable policy and regulations.
• Provides recommendations, engineering methods and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
• Helps in the preparation of proposals and estimations.
• Assists with Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) problem resolution.
• Applies knowledge of communications theory to RF engineering problems.
• Addresses somewhat complex technical issues/problems using internal best practice and through collaboration with colleagues.
• Communicates with colleagues across multiple areas (project managers, other technical resources, etc.).
• Explains technical solutions, practices, and procedures to others within the organization.
• Develops solutions to technical problems that require dept of technical knowledge but are limited in complexity.

Selection Criteria

Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Engineering or Telecommunications (Please go to the link www.abet.orgto find out more about accredited universities) and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or master’s with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Telecommunications technology knowledge desired
• Programming Experience desired (MATLAB or Python)

• Creative and resourceful thinking.
• Must be flexible and capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Requires working knowledge of and ability to apply standards, principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has some understanding of other specialty areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
