We have an exciting opportunity available for someone who is already an experienced software developer or has completed a University course that has a substantial element of software programming and design, and is looking to work on projects that are both technologically advanced and challenging.
DentalPlus is a developer of leading edge software for dentists that allows them to manage their dental practice both from the administration point of view, and also to have full detailed control over the patients dental health, from comprehensive patient details, full charting of treatment plans and individual tooth treatments, through to communicating electronically with the NHS, payment systems, etc.
Our systems are complex, the development of which offers a wonderful spectrum of areas in which you would be involved: general new developments of the core software; tablet and phone interfaces; automated texting; signature pads and security; links with digital equipment such as X-ray scanners, and the like.
As a small family owned company that prides itself first and foremost on service and quality, we would expect you to be able to fit in with a casual, friendly, but intensively professional team. You should also, as all others, be able to develop your social skills by communicating directly with users to help solve their technical issues, and to build up a rapport where you are as well known by users, and are as trusted, as we are.
The role requires a good knowledge of JavaScript (preferably REACT and NEXT.JS) & CSS and a good understanding of user interaction. Some experience of .Net C# and browser extensions would be advantageous. We’d like that you’ve had some experience working with SQL databases, but we can get you up to speed if you haven’t. Projects are developed for use on Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS and web.
We work using Agile development, often taking prototypes through to final testing then building on them to make a final product. The position will be under the control of the IT Director and working directly with him. It is a small development team and requires somebody who can self-manage and work to agreed timescales that they set themselves.
We have plans for important key projects, and we would like the successful candidate to input their own ideas, to suggest and implement improvements to the design, and to have an interest in watching current trends in software development. This project places an emphasis on the look, feel and design elements, whilst the software must be practical for users, many of whom will not necessarily have many computing skills.
We are very much a team where everyone can submit ideas, and you will work with a certain amount of freedom. Our IT Director is very knowledgeable and will work with you, and help you learn any new skills required.
We are looking for someone who will view this position as an opportunity to work within a company that has high standards and wants a position for the long term.
Salary is in the range £20 – £25,000 depending on qualifications, experience and aptitude. This is a post with long term prospects, and will suit a graduate with ability straight from University. We will also consider any other applicants with a year or more experience. You will be based at our office in Rustington, West Sussex. Having your own transport would be an advantage.
We work a 39.5 hour week, covering the hours 8.30am to 5.30pm (Mon to Thurs) and 8:30am to 5:00pm (Fri) with one hour for lunch. You would be expected to be flexible in your approach especially in times of peak demand when a new practice joins the scheme, or we are updating users to a new version.
This role is currently split between part-time work from home or office based, but it is our intention to return to a full-time office based environment so all applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our offices.
