Admiral Hiring for Software Engineer Job at Remote Full Time

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled agile team in the Digital Tribe within IT Delivery, in which you will be working closely with our vendor responsible for building our mobile app. You will also contribute to the development of our core chat bot applications which help customers to service their Admiral products.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer to contribute to the development of a variety solutions within one of our multidisciplinary Squads.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical relationship with our supplier
• Advise on best practices for Authentication, Security and IAM
• Be the point of contact in the wider tribe for all things related to the mobile application
• Develop cloud functions to aid the delivery of chatbots
• Implementation and delivery of relevant coding technologies to defined standards.
• Implementation and execution of thorough unit testing and version control.
• Understanding of emerging technologies and their suitability to business demands.
• Maintaining existing solutions and identifying/remediating technical debt.
• Producing applicable technical documentation.
• Working alongside and collaborating with other Software Engineers in the wider tribe.
• Ensuring the software delivered is performant, secure and scalable.
• Code reviewing/monitoring coding standards.

Skills and Experience

• Ability to creatively think around a brief and challenge it if necessary.
• Thorough knowledge of all relevant coding languages.
• Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and practices.
• Prioritisation and time management skills to hit deadlines.
• Confidence to communicate ideas effectively to peers, seniors, and management.
• Ability to produce quality documentation as necessary.
• Able to transfer knowledge between other members of the team.
• A focus on continuous improvement.
• Able to plan and coordinate technical requirements and tasks across the team.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and a desire for continual learning and improvement.

Technical Skills

Essential

• Excellent Knowledge of Java 8 and above
• Excellent knowledge of developing authentication & authorisation in Java
• Experience implementing authentication & authorisation with IAM
• Experience of API management and best practices
• Knowledge of database concepts and SQL
• Experience of developing middleware and server-side applications.
• Experience of implementing and consuming RESTful web services.
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
• An appreciation of CI/CD concepts and using tools such as Jenkins/Azure Devops
• Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and practices.
• Working knowledge with Cloud technologies such as Azure and GCP

Desirable

• Have developed serverless functions in GCP
• Working knowledge with any AI/NLP platform (DialogFlow/ Alexa/ Converse.ai/ Amazon Lex etc).
• Working knowledge in contact centre operations such as agent skill routing, recording, transfers, knowledge/ next best action, work force management, agent scorecard.
• Awareness of Guidewire products such as Policy Centre and Billing Centre, and the Customer Engage Digital suite.
