The Fitzwilliam Museum: Opening up the past to transform our futures.
As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, The Fitzwilliam Museum acts as a crucial bridge between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries. The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world’s leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science.
The purpose of the role is to provide an administrative and secretarial service to HKI and/or Fitzwilliam Museum Conservation as required to facilitate the efficient operation of all work undertaken.
You will maintain records and update information sources, contribute to the planning and co-ordination of duties in a particular specialised area, assist in identifying areas of improvement on processes, and liaise with team members and others for information.
You will support senior staff (e.g. Head of Department, Professor etc.) on tasks including diary management, travel arrangements, responding to enquiries, typing confidential correspondence, monitoring emails, drafting non routine correspondence, and taking minutes/notes at meetings and committees.
A face-to-face point of contact for daily activities within the HKI studio, you will liaise with contractors, clients, visitors and property employees, responding to enquiries and carrying out general administration duties.
In return we offer an encouraging and supportive environment, an attractive pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and many employee benefits such as a shopping discounts scheme.
To help support our staff to thrive both professionally and personally, we have adopted a system of hybrid working, meaning staff are empowered to split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. The frequency of remote working will be subject to discussion with your line manager.
