Entry Level – Assistant Merchant Role

This position provides overall support to the Merchant + Inventory team in creating an exciting product assortment that exceeds sales volume and profit for their area. Intuitively respond to market trends and work with Merchants/Marketing to develop action plans that drive growth and increased profitability. This position acts as a liaison between the inventory and product team & works cross-functionally to ensure all processes and operations are efficient.

List of Tasks

• Creates, provides, and maintains seasonal style portfolio, maintaining product information from A-Z in efforts to help streamline and manage Product Lifecycle.
• Create all style numbers, UPCs and other critical product classifications across all systems. Make sure costing, retails, wholesale and all product info is maintained. Work on a weekly product upload to ensure product information is up-to-date.
• Manages all order entry and product attributing based on approved buy plan. Will initiate P.O. revisions when applicable
• Create tracking and maintain samples by season, classification, and delivery
• Maintain merchandising office including sample administration, quality, and status.
• Partake in communication with vendors, including tracking all submits, sample approvals and purchase order management communication.
• Reads and reacts to business needs with a sense of urgency.
• Partners with Production and Inventory team to manage delivery flow and address issues as they arise.
• Acts as a liaison between the merchant/wholesale managers to ensure everything is running smoothly as it relates to product.
• Ensure that each vendor is following the vendor manual and other requirements.
• Oversee proofing process of product to the site including price, IMAGE, copy, and product specs.
• Stay current on market trends in the fashion/retail industry.
• Provide ad hoc support to Merchants and team to collaboratively achieve business goals.

Key qualifications:

• Acute attention to detail is a MUST with strong follow up skills.
• Fashion/retail experience is required.
• Be in the know on what’s trending.
• Flexible and capable of multitasking.
• Detail oriented.
• Bachelor’s degree in related experience. Fashion/retail is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of retail math.
• Team player.
• Excellent computer skills Microsoft- Excel proficient
