ACCOUNTANT JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seeking a self-motivated, Accountant with a Bachelors or higher degree in Accountancy or related degree/s. Position requires working experience with non-profit schools, knowledgeable of GAAP and great understanding of fund accounting. Must be a self-starter and possess a broad experience in all aspects of accounting including the preparation/analysis of financial and audit reports. Position will require processing quarterlies, payroll and year-end reports, along with a strong understanding of accounts payables.

We seek a person who can multitask in an extremely fast-paced environment, manage multiple assignments efficiently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines and schedules. Must be a strong team builder/facilitator with the ability to effectively communicate direction, convey complex information in easily understood formats. We require the ability to effectively work in a culturally diverse client environment, supervise staff and have strong problem solving skills. Position requires solid planning and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate all aspects of each project from inception through completion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Bachelors of Accountancy or other related field. CPA’s are highly encouraged to apply. APPLICANTS WITHOUT A BACHELORS OR HIGHER NEED NOT APPLY.
• Must have exceptional knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), government fund accounting practices, financial statement and audit preparation, budgeting, financial management as well as methods and procedures. Also requires knowledge of Arizona State Statutes.
• Preferred knowledge and experience in school finance, USFRCS (Uniform System of Financial Records) Charter Schools procurement codes and school law related to business operations.
• The ability to perform complex financial analysis, well versed in research and statistical analysis methods and have exceptional general ledger knowledge and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work assignments and be extremely detail oriented.
• Demonstrate ability to be flexible, implement improvements, manage changes and be patient in stressful environment.
• Experienced in preparing quarterly reports, payroll tax reports and 1099 reporting. Knowledge of maintaining fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
• Must be experienced in QuickBooks application, Excel and Word.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Possess effective interpersonal skills with clients and staff.
• Ability to multi-task is essential and meet deadlines and timelines requested by clients and the CEO.
• Must be a self-starter and ability to work without supervision and confident in making decisions.
• Due to the sensitivity of our client’s information, must pass a criminal background check.
• Position requires “on-site” client, vendor and other various visits. Must provide proof of automobile insurance.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Provide administrative assistance with budget and accounting functions for Charter School Clients.
• Conduct financial projections and analysis requested by CEO and/or clients.
• Assist CEO with preparation, development, monitoring and revision of Charter School adopted budget, revised budgets and annual financial reporting (AFR) for presentation to Charter School Governing Boards.
• Direct ADI personnel in payroll preparation and accounts payable.
• Preparation of monthly bank statement reconciliation of operating cash and investment accounts.
• Perform internal auditing all funds.
• Produce and maintain interim financial statements; monthly financial reports, account analysis to ensure accuracy of USFRCS account code compliance, cash flow reports, etc.
• Generating cash flow projections on a monthly basis, or sooner as needed
• Maintain various forms of fiscal information. This might include but not be limited to files and records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
• Monitor fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of insuring allocations to schools are accurate.
• Respond to inquiries from clients regarding various procedures and requirements for the purpose of providing necessary information for making sound financial management decisions. Taking appropriate action and/or complying with established fiscal guidelines.
• Analyze and interpret data from different sources.
• Analyze and prepare different types of financial statements and reports.
• Prepare journal entries in the process of producing monthly financial information.
• Make recommendations for new accounting methods as desirable and necessary. Structure the account coding and set up new codes when necessary.
• Have primary responsibility for closing of books at fiscal year end, prepare all records for the annual audit, and serve as liaison with the client’s auditor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is full-time exempt, which becomes permanent upon successfully completing a 90-day probation period. Upon successfully completing the 90-day probation period employee is eligible for benefits including PTO, health, dental, vision, life insurance and matching IRA. Salary to be determined based on experience and qualifications. Employee may be expected to go above and beyond the normal work hours, which will be required at various times throughout the year to complete and meet necessary deadlines.
