Active Minerals International (AMI) is a worldwide leader in specialty industrial minerals. The company specializes in the production and marketing of high purity kaolin and gel quality attapulgite clay minerals for fiberglass, concrete, plaster, paints, rubber and agriculture industries.

Position Summary :

Manages multiple functions within an organization’s logistics department. Responsibilities may include the transportation of raw materials and / or finished goods, vendor selection and negotiation, distribution of supplies as needed, and inventory control.

Essential Functions :

• Supervises daily activities of the shipping and / or logistics department to ensure on-time delivery of orders
• Schedules rail shipments; manages rail fleet
• Sources and / or routes finished products in accordance with established guidelines
• Maintains product inventory
• Identifies and executes opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction
• Generates s; analyzes data and makes recommendations
• Sources and / or maintains adequate stock of shipping and packaging materials
• Coordinates with all necessary departments to resolve issues and implement corrective actions;
• Utilizes available resources
• Support and enforce all company policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws.
• Adhere to all QMS procedures and documentation as applicable to position and department, and as required by ISO
• Serves as back up for Production Logistics Coordinator
• Adheres to and enforces federal, state, and local laws; and company policies
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Skill Sets :

• High school diploma
• Five years of relevant logistics, shipping and / or general industry experience
• Proficient in the use of company tools and / or management systems and Microsoft Office software.
• Knowledge of trucking, rail and ocean containers and the regulations surrounding their use and shipment
• Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions / Environment :

Work is performed in an office environment, with occasional exposure to production environment. Able to sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop.

Able to lift, pull, push and carry up to 50 lbs. Manual dexterity required for operation of a computer keyboard. Vision and a sense of hearing are also required.

Routine domestic travel may be required.
