FINANCE ANALYST

Circa Salary: £42,000 per annum

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire

Contract/Hours: Permanent – Full-Time – 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. You must be able to work 1 day in the office a week. (Hybrid)

About the Role:

Reporting into the Financial Planning & Business Support Manager, this role provides important support across all sections of AfC’s Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function. The FP&A team support all areas of AfC’s activities, including Children’s Services, Commercial, Fundraising and central cost areas, with a combined annual budget of around £150m.

The role supports the preparation of regular financial management reports and analysis of key variances to ensure financial performance, risks and opportunities are understood.

What you will be doing:

• Developing and producing the monthly and quarterly finance requirements timetable where all areas have good visibility of requirements and timelines
• Ensuring all management accounting timelines are met, reporting on issues with meeting timelines whilst bringing ideas.
• Producing accurate and timely financial analysis in support of the FP&A section, supporting the preparation and maintenance of business modelling, and providing financial insight to support business decisions
• Ensuring integrity of the business intelligence system and ensuring that the flow of information between the mainframe system and Business intelligent system.
• Acting as gatekeeper for any changes within the financial system ensuring effective version control and sign off on any changes.
• Supporting in the preparation of the annual audit information packs and investigate ad hoc queries as directed by the external auditors

Let’s talk about you

• Qualified (or exam-finalist) Accountant with a good understanding of the management reporting requirements and cycle within a commercial or not-for-profit organization
• Team player and attention to detail, whilst being commercially astute and forward thinking
• Building and sustaining relationships with operational colleagues
• Planning and organising skills to deliver work outcomes to time and quality standards
• Good IT skillsets including Excel, TM1 / Business intelligence systems
• Demonstrable understanding of diversity policies and their application in the workplace
